Paris is one of the premier capitals of the world especially the romantic amongst us; it has the ability to please everyone and is often referred to as The City of Lights. Owing to the amount of places to visit a short stay in Paris will be a busy one; there is so much to see and do that often only the main tourist attractions can be fitted in.

It is famous for many famous buildings and locations; it has much to offer visitors who adore culture, even if it is only for a long weekend. Traveling through the city of Paris can be very enjoyable; the underground train system or Metro can take you to anywhere within the city and is simple to use.

No visit would be complete without a trip to the top of the almost 1,000 feet tall Eiffel tower; it provides stunning views from the top and is visible throughout most of the city. You can be assured of an even more beautiful sight if you visit in the evening when it is illuminated; it is possible to take organized tours which tell the story of the Tower and the history of France.

If you plan on spending some of your traveler's checks in Paris, then a trip down the Champs Elysees is an essential part of a trip; it's where you will find all the top class hotels, shops and restaurants. This avenue is well worth a visit to see how the wealthy live; it is also where most of the five star hotels are situated but thankfully hotels tend to be cheaper once you move away from the city center.

The city's famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time; it contains almost a third of a million exhibits and is in fact one of the biggest art museums in the world. The problem is a Paris short stay will only ever provide a glimpse of what can be seen here; with so many visitors (around eight million), sometimes it can be difficult seeing some of the famous works. Over the years, Paris has been home to many of the world's famous artists; these include Monet and Picasso who very fortunately left some of their work here for all to enjoy.

Of course, Napoleon commissioned the construction of the Arc de Triomphe, another Paris landmark; the names of his generals are engraved on its surface and another of those ‘must have' photo land marks. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; it is located in Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve of the city's main avenues start, including Avenue de Champs Elysees.

This city has a huge variety of places to visit, many of these have not even mentioned here; but these should certainly not to be missed because many offer regular guided tours, some at little or no charge at all. Paris short stay vacations should only ever be considered as tasters for what is a truly magnificent city; a longer break here will be necessary if you really want to experience everything this wonderful city has to offer. Experience Paris, even if its only for a short stay...
